Data Files Download Instructions
Completion of the Lab portion of this course requires use of data files designed for Grauer/Barber's Brief MS Office 97 Professional manual. The data file self-extracting executable program and installation instructions are available at the Prentice Hall Home Page, or go directly to the download page forGrauer/Barber's Brief MS Office 97 Professional.
To download, scroll down using the right scroll button until you see a button reading "Software Download" on the left. Click on "Software Download."
The new screen will have two files listed in the right frame: readme.txt and sddbrf97.exe. Click on README.TXT for installation instructions. Click on the BACK button in the upper left hand corner of your browser screen to return to the file listing.
Download sddbrf97.exe by clicking on the file. The SaveAs window appears.
Follow the steps to saving:
- Choose WHERE you want to save in the SAVE IN window (Usually the C:\ drive)
- Choose WHICH folder into which you will save the file in the larger folder window
- Choose WHAT filename (usually when downloading online it is preferable to use the original filename provided)
- Click on SAVE
The download process will take a few moments.
Install the data files as follows:
- Click on START in the lower left hand corner of your Windows screen.
- Scroll up to RUN... and click one time.
- Select browse.
The steps to browse are similar to saving a file:
- Select the drive in the LookIn window, then the folder.
- Click one time on the file, and select open in the lower right hand corner.
- Now you have returned to the Run window.
The installation file is listed in the Run Window.
- Click on OKAY.
- A message box appears. Read it and click OK.
- The installation window appears. The c:\ will be highlighted, indicating that the files will be installed to your c:\ drive, that is, the hard drive.
- Click on UNZIP in the upper-right corner. The computer will UNZIP, that is, decompress (extract) and install, the data files to your hard drive.
- A small message window appears indicating the process is complete.
- Click on OK, then CLOSE to close the window.
The data files are now installed on your hard drive in four folders:
Exploring Word
Exploring Excel
Exploring PowerPoint
Exploring Access.
Turn to your lab manual WORD section and begin work on all YELLOW SECTIONS of the manual.
